The Future of IP: you can hear it, you can even help to forge it ...

By Johanna Gibson, David Pearce, Jeremy Phillips and Ilanah Simon.

ADVERTISEMENTS
Have you ever wanted to occupy a pivotal role in the evolution of IP rights in the United Kingdom -- and possibly even beyond? If so, why not turn up en masse to hear Joly Dixon, Chairman of the Strategic Advisory Board for Intellectual Property Policy (SABIP), who is going to speak on the topic ?The Future of IP?.

Apart from hearing what Joly Dixon has to say on this subject, in which he is joined by panellists Dame Lynne Brindley, Dr Cathy Garner, Professor John Pickering and Dr Jonathan Spencer CB -- all members of SABIP themselves -- you will have the chance to bend the ear of these worthy souls on all the key issues that concern IP today (try them out on copyright on the internet, or geographical appellations, perhaps) and perhaps influence their position. You can also decide whether Joly Dixon is the Sarah Palin of IP, plucked from the respectability of a blameless career in public service to provide a totally fresh face and new attitudes towards a field of activities in which we thought we knew it all.

The date of this historical occasion is 15 October, the venue being the lovely building occupied by Marks & Clerk at 90 Long Acre, so temptingly close to the seductive nocturnal temptations of Covent Garden. For booking details, please click here. This event is absolutely FREE to students. And if you're booking, don't forget to say you heard it from the IPKat!

The IPKat also welcomes any personal impressions of the meeting (preferably short!) from which he will seek to compile a literary montage to be posted on this weblog. You can email your impressions here.
