: Greg Siskind's Blog"TODAY WE MARCH, TOMORROW WE VOTE"
By Greg Siskind
Remember those words chanted during the immigration protests in 2006? I'm sure a few people will regret ignoring that warning given reports that are popping up on voter registration efforts in immigrant communities. Nearly one million Latino immigrants have naturalized since the summer of 1986. And that doesn't tell us what the number of naturalizations are in other communities. One group alone, the We Are America Alliance, reports registering more than 500,000 new citizens to vote. The group now is focusing on getting those newly registered citizens to actually vote.
By the way, I voted today. If you can vote early, consider doing it. I waited for an hour and a half and early voting lines are usually shorter than on Election Day. So I'm guessing the Election Day lines are going to be extremely long this year.
