: Never In Our NamesAlgerian Detainee Release Rejected by Bush Administration
By possum
Washington is not satisfied with the court's decision.
The story has been detailed and analyzed by smintheus here and by Gary L. Norton here. As Gary says
The evidence against them is so flimsy that it does not justify holding them for trial. And yet the administration continues their policy of foot dragging and failure to follow the law.
What next? What will the administration do this time? Appeal is possible but the judge has already worded his decision in a way that makes that less than acceptable. From Gary Norton again
Analyzing the entire record, the Judge concluded that there was no evidence presented regarding the credibility of the witness or the reliability of what he said.
Bu$hco has a history of avoiding legal rulings and of following only the course chosen by the administration without regard for justice on any plane. If this report holds up and the Algerians are denied their freedom we will have one more major black spot on our nation's conscience.
Peace.
