: Decision of the DayShake That Thang! Says Posner
By Robert Loblaw
Richman v. Sheahan, 07-1487 (7th Cir., Jan. 7, 2008)
Here?s another gem of a Seventh Circuit decision, this time from the inimitable Richard Posner. For the second time, the Court has reversed a district court decision granting summary judgment to police officers who injured an elderly woman and her obese son as they literally dragged them from a courtroom in Skokie, Illiniois.
I won?t bore you with all the fun facts and analysis, as Judge Posner?s words are far more compelling than my own. I?ll just leave you with his closing paragraph:
This lawsuit, a simple tort case, is in its tenth year. It is high time the district judge, who has presided over it from the beginning, grabbed it by the neck, gave it a good shake, and placed it on the path to a speedy decision.
He sure does have a way with words.
