What the State Bar of California is looking into -- perhaps a nice topic for some serious writing?

ADVERTISEMENTS

This article recounts the various initiatives being pursued by the state bar prosecutors in California.  (Disclaimer: the new Chief Trial Counsel, Jim Towery, is a friend.)

They're systematically looking at over 100 cases of possible prosecutorial misconduct, and given the widespread belief, mentioned by Brad earlier today, that there is insufficient prosecution of prosecutors, it seems to me that the project might be grist for an interesting study -- perhaps an LLM thesis or even dissertation.  The state bar's project was directly prompted by a report by the Innocence Project and the Santa Clara University School of Law, looking into the causes of miscarriages of justice.
