Cornyn v DeMint

Just how far to the right has the Republican Party gone? So far that John Cornyn is seen as too liberal, for crying out loud. The Wall Street Journal reports that Sen. Jim DeMint is leading his own fight to endorse more conservative candidates than those backed by Cornyn, who leads the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

DeMint has started a rival group called the Senate Conservatives Fund and is backing hard right candidates even in swing states where more moderate Republicans stand a better chance of winning.
