Texas is scheduled to carry out its eighth execution of 2009, tonight in Huntsville. It would be the state's 431st execution since 1982.AP has this report on the scheduled execution of Johnny Ray Johnson, via the Houston Chronicle. Houston's KPFT-FM will host Execution Watch on the web and it's HD radio broadcast signal beginning at 6:00 p.m. (CT), tonight. Johnson's execution would be the 12th execution in the nation this year; the 1,148th execution since 1977. Last night, Florida executed Wayne Tompkins, as noted in this Tampa Tribune report.  Also today, Alabama is scheduled to carry out an execution, as noted in this Birmingham News report.
