Weekend Drivers Influenced By Drugs And Alcohol Said To Terrorize Massachusetts Streets

This past weekend was apparently a dangerous time to be on the streets of Massachusetts?at least in Amherst and Milford, Massachusetts. Let?s take Saturday night in Amherst for example. Kevin Michael Smith, 26, of Chicopee, was allegedly seen by police officers operating a motorcycle on Southeast Street at a high rate of speed. The police tried to pull him over. A dedicated member of ?I Bet I Can Make This Worse? club, Mr. Smith refused to stop and sped off. The chase continued until Smith finally lost control of his motor cycle and crashed in the area of Eveningstar Drive, according to the police. Speedster Smith?s trophy for the race were the Commonwealth?s bracelets of shame, criminal charges for failing to stop for a police officer, reckless operation, operating under the influence of alcohol, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of a class A drug (clonazepam, a muscle relaxant) as well as a broken hand and other minor injuries...continue to full post
