PSCC LOVEFEST

The Public Safety Coordinating Council (PSCC) met this afternoon.  The PSCC is a statutorily created body charged primarily with keeping the jail population at manageable and safe levels.Today's theme: LOVE.The reason: First Appearances Court is off to a roaring start, and inter-agency cooperation is the reason why.  Judges were thanking BSO, the SAO, and the PD, and BSO, the SAO, and the PD were thanking each other and the judges.  Judge Jay Hurley, impresario of First Appearances, was praised for his performance to date.  Many of the panel members had taken the time to observe the new court.  They agreed that Hurley is doing a great job, bringing a consistent and sensible approach to two long dockets each day.  BSO's Colonel Wimberly even described one occasion when he observed Hurley pick up the phone mid-hearing to call an inmate's mother in Palm Beach, who could not be contacted from the jail...continue to full post
