ADVERTISEMENTS
Las Vegas' KLAS-TV has, "Lawmakers Propose Moratorium on Executions."If approved, Assembly Bill 190 would ban
all executions until July of 2011 while the legislature conducts a
study on the cost of capital punishment. And:An Assembly committee will hold a
hearing on the bill Tuesday afternoon. Prosecutor Christopher Owens
will testify on behalf of the Clark County District Attorneys Office.
Owens says he will argue such cost studies in other states have been
unreliable, and that a moratorium on executions is not necessary in
order to conduct a study. Earlier coverage from Nevada is here.Full post as published by StandDown Texas Project on March 24, 2009 (boomark / email).
