GOODBYE SUMMER

The passing of August has not gone unnoticed by the author of this humble blog. Summer is a real nuisance, as the sultry and thick humidity serves to wreck any suit a well attired lawyer may wear. The walk from the parking lot to the car is usually enough to have us longing for our morning shower. The end of summer also means certain changes to our daily libations. Rum and gin are out, and bourbon is in. Tequilla as any true friend of Rumpole knows, never goes out of style. The end of August also means we enter the most precarious time hurricane wise. Indeed, evacuations have been ordered for the Carolina barrier islands in anticipation of Earl. Beyond the havoc that Earl may wreck, thousands of small businesses also face the loss of Labor Day weekend income, which for seasonal businesses is as important as Black Friday is for retailers...continue to full post
