End Could Be Near for PD Council

That's the title of a report in today's Fulton County Report regarding the Georgia indigent defense entity.  It's subtitled, "House committee approves SB 42 to move control of state's indigent defense system to governor, Legislature," and is written by Andy Peters.Legislation that would give the governor and Legislature full control of the state's indigent defense system moved a step closer to passage Friday.A House committee on Friday morning approved legislation to remove policy-making authority from the Georgia Public Defender Standards Council. The House Judiciary (Non-Civil) Committee approved Senate Bill 42 by a vote of 5-4.The legislation now goes to the full House for consideration.
