Challenges to the scheduled execution have been filed with a state-level judge and with the 9th Circuit federal appeals court. "Death row inmate's lawyers try to stop execution," is the latest AP report, via the Silicon Valley Mercury News. Lawyers for a death row inmate plan to ask a Marin County Superior Court judge today to block his execution scheduled for Wednesday.Judge Verna Adams is considering a recently filed lawsuit challenging the state's new lethal injection regulations.Albert Greenwood Brown's attorneys will ask the judge to halt his execution. The time of the hearing hasn't been set. CNN reports, "Legal maneuverings continue in case of California death row inmate."
