: ACS BlogAlberto Mora on Detainee Treatment
Earlier this week, former General Counsel for the Department of the Navy Alberto Mora testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee on the Treatment of Detainees in U.S. Custody. Just a few days prior, he spoke to ACS members at our 2008 National Convention as part of a discussion on Ensuring Access to Detainees in the War on Terror.
Here is video of Mr. Mora’s remarks. He explained that “the abuse of detainees, the denial of access to justice, [and] the harsh interrogation techniques, are not supportive of our overarching foreign-policy principles at all. In fact, they’re not supportive of our broader national security strategy, including the strategy on how to best fight the war on terror.”
