: Arizona Bankruptcy Attorney BlogWhy Do My Bankruptcy Telephone Guys Ask You Questions?
By Joseph McDaniel, Esq.
And some people need more time; if you have a currently operating business, there's a good chance that my phone guys will set you for a full hour, instead of the half-hour we usually book for somebody with ordinary consumer debt issues.
Or it may be that you've done all the bankruptcy homework, and you know that there's only one issue that you need to finish your decision making process about bankruptcy, and that's whether you pass the dreaded Means Test; for those folks, I often (but not always) have Nina the Unpronounceable (NO, she's not Peggy from Vladivostok!) come in with the Laptop of Doom.
Or suppose my phone guy asks how much unsecured debt you have that you want to get rid of in your potential bankruptcy in Arizona, and the answer is "six hundred dollars". Well, my guys know enough to understand that I don't want to waste your bankruptcy discharge (which can scrape off $20,000,000 with some ease, which I know because I helped a client with that a few months ago) on a couple of hundred dollars worth of debt. They'll want to know what other reasons you may have for talking to me, because if it's only the six hundred dollars, you are probably wasting your time.
And some folks have legitimate legal emergencies; there are such things. It's not a legitimate legal emergency is you have a complaint and you have a bunch of time to answer it, but you're scared; you get to wait until we can fit you in, although we'll get you in as quickly as we can, and that's usually just a few days. If you have what sounds to my guys like a legal emergency, they'll be as helpful as they can to get you in asap, but make sure you do your bankruptcy homework so you don't waste their favor.
And why do they want your email address? Well, so they can send you links to the homework and so they can send you an email reminder of your appointment with me, and so they can send you a link to our Google Place Page, because I know that it's hard to keep things straight in your head when you're being sued, have a thousand harassing phone calls a day, and worry about trying to work three jobs to keep making payments on your overdue credit cards.
So c'mon!
When they ask you questions, they aren't trying to trap you or confuse you or make fun of you: they're trying really, really hard to help you!
So help 'em out, okay?
Because they're trying to help me help you; and you want that, right?
