Barney Begs Off On Brown Brawl

ADVERTISEMENTS

Bank Lawyer's Blog dodged another bullet today when Barney Frank announced he'll opt out of running against Scott Brown and instead run for re-election to the House in 2012. I'd hate to see him trounced by Beam-Me-Up-Scottie and not be around to provide occasional comic relief when other targets of opportunity have decided to hide in the weeds. Scott, nicknamed "41" by his compadres, has proved, with his infamous Bay State Buyoff, that he can bring home "the other white meat" to his constituents as well as Barney can, and do it as part of a bill named after Barney. Brown has an additional leg up on Barney by virtue of the fact that he's sired an offspring who can belt out a power ballad while dunking on you. Barney can neither sing nor dribble, much less dunk.

Our secret sources tell us that the real reason that Barney decided not to take on Scott is that he kind of likes the guy. As proof, the sources point to last year's interaction on SNL.
