Ebook corner in library - good model

By Mary

ADVERTISEMENTS

Proposal:  Set up an ebook reading corner in the library. Library users may check out an ebook reader for in-library use only. The ebook reader is loaded with best sellers, provided at no cost by vendors/publishers.

Why it's good for ebook vendors/publishers:  Many readers will be exposed to both the ebook readers and the ebook format. Since it is difficult to read an entire bestseller at one sitting, many users will be inspired to become ebook customers.  GIves ebook vendors/publishers a positive image, in that the devices and ebooks are donated for the public good.

Why it's good for library users:  Free way to try out ebooks and ebook devices. Exposure to current bestsellers in a comfortable setting.  Readers without the funds to purchase ebooks may, in fact, sign up to read in-the-library with unlimited uses, although the library may need to limit to an hour (for example) per day.
