: The Faculty LoungeNow that your gallbladder is removed, I'd like to discuss my Grade...
By Kevin Maillard
From today's Chronicle of Higher Education:
Actual message from a chair of a department somewhere, to faculty members, names redacted:
Fellow aging economists,
In case you did not know, on Friday Professor X had his gallbladder removed. Students were immediately moved to write their sympathies:
Good afternoon, while I can empathize with Professor X's health issue, he hasn't yet gone over the balance of the chapters/topics required for the final exam. Can you please ask him to try and send out a somewhat detailed study guide sooner rather than later, as this will be necessary for our review.
Please join me in wishing Professor X a speedy recovery. We have sent him an arrangement of edible fruit. And, I am sure this will surprise you, no mention was made of writing a "detailed study guide."
