: ConglomerateThe Pulitzer Eschews The Financial Crisis, But Not The Law Professoriate
By Gordon Smith, Christine, Hurt, Vic Fleischer, Fred Tung, Lisa Fairfax, David Zaring
In case you haven't heard, there was nary a Pulitzer handed out for the financial crisis, which was really quite a big story last year. Nor one handed out for the presidential election, arguably also a big one. Instead, the recommendation of the prize committee seems to be that papers should focus on the sexual peccadilloes of politicians. Who says the MSM can't aim low and hit paydirt?
If it inexplicably wasn't a good year for business journalists with the committee (despite being a great year for business journalism), it was a very good year for NYLS law professor Annette Gordon-Reed, who added a Pulitzer to her National Book Award for The Hemmingses of Monticello, making her by far the most decorated legal historian in the country, I imagine.
