Poverty decreases in Florida

Florida is one of 12 states where the poverty rate declined from 2006 to 2007, according to new data released today by the U.S. Census Bureau.

The state's poverty rate was 12.1% in 2007, according to the American Community Survey. That compares to 12.6% in 2006.

That means more than 2.1 million Floridians are living below the poverty line.
