: The Faculty LoungeEarly (and Recent) Harvard Law School Catalogs
By propertyprof
And now for something fun?or at least a distraction from politics. David Warrington of Harvard?s Law Library has announced recently that the catalogs of the law school are now all scanned in and ready for viewing on the net. Because I work on antebellum legal thought, I turned right to the antebellum catalogs. And what did I see? Among other really interesting things?the origins of blind grading! That's from way back in the 1850s.
There?s also some interesting details about the Royall Professorship?including the terms under which the University might rename the professorship. Ah, never know where you?ll meet monument law, do you?!
The catalogs from 1835 to 1869 are available here. The 1878-1970 catalogs are available here. The 1970 to 2006 catalogs are here.
