: ConglomerateA Day at the Glom
By Gordon Smith, Christine, Hurt, Vic Fleischer, Fred Tung, Lisa Fairfax, David Zaring
As Christine noted, I am enjoying a day at the Glom. My hiatus from blogging was unplanned, at least for the first few days, but then I decided to recharge my blogging batteries. Fortunately for all of us, my co-bloggers and some excellent guests have more than picked up the slack.
The need for a hiatus stemmed largely from the fact that I am trying to maintain a research agenda while serving as Associate Dean. How's that going? Well, I recently posted a new article on SSRN, so that's something, but juggling teaching, research, and administration is not easy. Now add blogging to the mix ...
Actually, I decided during my hiatus that I needed to add blogging back to the mix for the sake of my research and teaching. As I have noted on many occasions, blogging forces me to think harder about the subjects I teach and the scholarship I read. When I take time away from the blog, I miss it in more than a sentimental way.
As for administration, we are currently in the middle of creating next year's class schedule, which accounts for the sudden appearance of this video on YouTube (warning: salty language):
If you are a sports fan, you have seen this video with various subtitles myriad times. Indeed, when it was forwarded to me, I almost didn't watch it because it has been so overused ... but associate deans are getting a good laugh out of it.
So there you are ... for better or worse, I am spending a day at the Glom, and I plan to make this a more frequent occurrence.
