By Lawrence Solum
Hofstra University announces an interdisciplinary conference titled "Darwin's Reach: A Celebration of Darwin's Legacy across Academic Disciplines," March 12-14, 2009. Frans de Waal, the primatologist whose work develops philosophically-interesting implications, will be the primary keynote speaker. 200-word abstracts are solicited for a June 16 deadline on any area of philosophy (or academic inquiry more broadly) connected with evolution, including ethics, politics, sex/ gender, epistemology, metaphysics, language, philosophy of science, and so forth.
The full Call for Papers is available at http://www.hofstra.edu/darwinsreach . Hofstra University is in Hempstead, New York, 20 miles east of (and an easy 45-minute commuter- rail trip from) Manhattan. Philosophers may address any questions to me at Christopher.Eliot@hofstra.edu .
