: AFL-CIO NOW BLOGTom Morello Headlines Concert for Wisconsin Workers Tonight
By Tula Connell
Lots of people have been sending pizza delveries to the workers rallying at the Madison Capitol over the past few days.
Tonight at 7 p.m. CT, they will get a feast for their ears when Tom Morello, Wayne Kramer, the Street Dogs and other musicians will join teachers, students, community members, religious leaders to rally against Gov. Scott Walker’s radical proposals against workers and their union. They will call for policies that support the middle class and leaders who will respect the freedom of working people to collectively call for a better life.
Says Morello:
The incredible support for workers’ rights in Madison is proof that from the Middle East to the Midwest people are demanding justice on a global scale. As the son of a public high school teacher and as a 22 year union member this fight for me is very personal. The future of workers’ rights in this country will not be decided in the courts or in congress or in the press. It will be decided on the streets of Madison, Wisconsin and I’m going to be there.
Kudos to all the musicians who are donating their time and talents to show support for America’s middle class.
