The Textbook of Traumatic Brain Injury

By Bruce Stern

ADVERTISEMENTS

For neuro lawyers, the use of authoritative medical treatises and textbooks provides one of the most important weapons in the trial attorney's arsenal. This month, the American Psychiatric Publishing's second edition of the Textbook of Traumatic Brain Injury is being published. The textbook is edited by three of the top neuropsychiatrists in the country, Jonathan M. Silver, M.D., Thomas W. McAllister, M.D., and Stuart C. Yudofsky, M.D.

According to American Psychiatric Publishing, this new edition of the Textbook has been thoroughly revised and updated from the 2005 first edition to reflect "exponential expansion of research and clinical data amassed in the intervening years. The text contains new chapters on epidemiology, neuro pathology, and genetics of traumatic brain injury. There are also new chapters emphasizing unique features of blast injury, post traumatic stress disorder, as well as coverage of psycho pharmacology and psychotherapy for the psychiatric symptoms associated with traumatic brain injury. The text also includes a Forward written by Bob Woodruff, the ABC World News correspondent who sustained a traumatic brain injury while covering the war in Iraq.

I recommend this book to everyone. There is a special prepublication price of $144.00 until March 14, 2011, at which time the price will be $159.00. Members of the APA can purchase the book for $115.00. A link to ordering the textbook can be found here.
