ADVERTISEMENTS
President Obama released his proposed budget for 2012. The new Budget would allow the USPTO "full access to its fee collections" and for a "temporary" but major fee surcharge. The budget materials currently available from the White House do not identify the exact amount of the surcharge other than indicating that the projected fee collection would jump more than 30% from $2.07 billion collected in FY2010 to $2.71 billion in projected collections for 2012. This works out to a little over $100,000 extra per examiner.
