: Magic CookieBaby monitor
But tonight he screamed at midnight. He calmed down after a minute or two, and then started back up again. After a little while, I went in and gave him a pacifier. It didn't help. I gave him a hug and went back out. He screamed louder. I stood outside his door, listening. Should I go back in? Would I be interfering with his sleep? Was he sick? Did he need comforting? Should I wait a few minutes?
I went back in and took him out of his crib, and rocked him for a long time. After a while he went back without protest and I took the baby monitor downstairs with me. I'm listening to him breathe and toss.
It's so hard to know what to do with babies. You never know whether they know best what they need, or whether you're giving in and setting them up for bad habits, or whether there's some third way that neither of you knows.
This part probably doesn't get easier.
