UK on higher alert for terror attacks

By Kate Evans -Taylor 12 January 2011: The New York Times reported Saturday that British authorities “raised the level of terrorism alerts at transport hubs including railroad stations and airports on Friday,” but news here in the U.S. relative to that threat was quickly overshadowed by the mass shooting in Tucson. According to a highly placed domestic intelligence source at Scotland Yard I interviewed yesterday, there is a “deep concern over possible suicide attacks by bombers or teams of bombers, or even attacks by Muslim terrorists using firearms in conjunction with explosives.” The likelihood of these attacks appear to greater at airports, the underground rail and stations.
