Eight Aggravated Assault Arrests in Hoboken over New Year's Weekend

Over holiday weekends, it is common for there to be an increase in criminal activity, such as drunk driving, physical assaults, shoplifting, and more. According to NJ.com, police in Hoboken were involved in eight separate assault cases over the New Year?s weekend. In at least two incidents, two men sustained injuries in assaults. Police say alcohol was likely involved in both cases. According to New Jersey Statute 2C:12-1, a person is guilty of simple assault if he or she ?attempts to cause or purposely, knowingly or recklessly causes bodily injury to another; or negligently causes bodily injury to another with a deadly weapon or attempts by physical menace to put another in fear of imminent serious bodily injury.?Aggravated assault is an even more serious charge involving a person attempting to cause serious bodily injury...continue to full post
