Doug Cornelius compiled on his blog here a large sampling of social media policies for various types of businesses. It's a useful starting point for companies interested in getting a handle on this burgeoning area. Kevin O'Keefe, the nation's leading expert on blogging and social media for lawyers, writes here that the nation's top firms are now seeking to hire social media advisors for their firms. Kevin uses the analogy of the recognition by firms in the late 90s that they needed to have their own websites, to describe the acknowledgment recently by many law firms that they must "join the party" when it comes to social media.
