clarity and originality in your blog

Guest post from: Barnaby Austein

Many who engage in the business of blogging will tell you that the most powerful way of encouraging traffic is to write meaningful content.

And they are quite right ? I would tell you exactly the same thing.

Sure, I?d also tell you a little about search engine optimisation and how to start getting found on Google .

But the reality is that without meaningful content, readers won?t come to your site.

If they do, they won?t stay if there is nothing to read of any relevance.

Now the next little lesson that you will be told is to ?speak? to your audience naturally.

Blogging, when done honestly, reflects the nature of the writer.

It is a conversational piece of writing that expands on thoughts, views and feelings that the writer wants to share with the world.

This should be the case whether you are promoting a business, writing about the course of true love or about the movies you like to watch over and over again.

What is important is that the writing is honest and comes from the real you as opposed to some being that is trying to convey a false personality to the community.

Unless you are a very good actor and can write in a form that is not true to who you, eventually you will be ?found out?.

The very fact that a blog is a conversation rather than a piece of lengthy prose makes being contrived almost impossible.

And this is the way it should be. When you engage in conversation in a room (politicians aside! ), you project your personality and passion through what you say and how you say it.

The blog is there to emulate you in that situation. It is designed to drive debate and conversation and does this successfully by being fluid in nature and by matching your personality and verbal communication style.

So, when you blog, please write with your own ?true? voice. Don?t let anyone else tell you what that is.

It is your voice and yours alone.
