: SoapBox LawDifferent, Unique, and Innovative Obama Plan for Economic Change: More Taxes, More Regulations
More evidence that Obama is just Ted Kennedy with a less annoying voice; his plan is essentially $30 billion more in taxes and huge regulatory increases. Brilliant. Nothing stimulates the economy more than taking more money out of people?s pockets. Despite Obama?s desire to not be burdened with distracting labels like liberal, having positions like complete withdrawal from Iraq despite the clear and consistent progress there, government take over and mandate of health care, re-hauling of our economy to make it ?green,? and other huge increases of government in education, and other entitlements with the accompanying huge increase in taxes and populist rhetoric. These are ancient, tired, and virtually useless liberal ideas.
I don?t mind liberal ideas, I really don?t. What I don?t like is when liberals don?t like being called liberals. For example, I don?t mind that virtually every single newspaper I read and every single professor I?ve had is clearly left of center (actually I mind it a little bit, but that?s not my point). I just hate it more that the media and education pretends that it?s not liberal. Why be so disingenuous? Why not be proud of your liberalism?
What Obama (and every liberal for that matter) means when they talk about unification and non-partisanship is a unification under liberal ideas. Nowhere in Obama?s issues is there any notion of compromise with conservative principles. Nowhere has he even shown that he has the ability to actually compromise with conservatives. In fact, how many bridges has he built across the isle that resulted in laws being passed? Exactly One. And it was a doozy too; now Senator?s have to pay the full charter rate as opposed to the first class rate when flying corporate jets. Now that?s change that we can believe in. The only way you can be above the fray is to refuse to get in the fray, and what ever that is, it ain't leadership.
Again, I don?t mind if you have no experience and no new ideas, just don?t ask me to believe that you do have experience, your ideas are new, and your judgment is a selling point. That?s just too much lipstick on that pig.
