Recent Oregonian coverage of the bomb sting case

By Tung Yin

ADVERTISEMENTS

The Oregonian ran a bunch of stories related to the bomb sting case over the weekend:

Family of Portland's bomb suspect, Mohamed Mohamud, fled chaos in Somalia for new life in America

A pretty good profile of Mohamud and his parents.  This story includes a quote from a family friend supporting the claim that Mohamud's father is the person who tipped off the government about his alleged radicalization.

Facets of the faith: Four Muslims anchor their values on co-existence and commonality with others

This story consists of interviews with four local Muslim-Americans, including two Lewis & Clark law students, about Islam.  The comments quickly degenerate into a back and forth about whether Islam is a violent religion, with one commenter making the provably incorrect assertion that "100% of terrorists are Muslims."  Enter the comments section at your own risk.

Portland bomb plot case likely to serve as primer on entrapment, FBI sting issues

This story looks at the FBI affidavit in some detail.  I was interviewed extensively for it, and it also includes some commentary from Colorado law prof Aya Gruber.
