Kommando Kamp

ADVERTISEMENTS

More details come out about the “shocking and sensational” training camp of the “Brampton 18″ (see my previous post here). Apparently even the police thought one suspect’s call for jihad was “blowing smoke,” his “jihadist ambitions, to the extent he had them, were limited only by the fact that he had neither the means, skill or opportunity to put them in place.”

[A defence factum] says the evidence will reveal the accused were not hardened, experienced warriors ready to carry out acts of terror.

“(The group) ventured into the deathly cold of winter without a proper tent, or in fact sufficient or proper supplies of any kind, was reduced to sleeping in the vehicles at night to prevent freezing to death, trooping off to Tim Hortons multiple times per day for coffee and use of the bathroom,” the factum reads.

While the Crown alleges the suspects carried out various military-style exercises, the factum suggests they marched on the grounds “with the primary purpose of staying warm.”
