ADVERTISEMENTS
In these other dispatches about fair and impartial courts:
- Washington Supreme Court Justice Richard Sanders has “all but conceded” an election to challenger Charlie Wiggins. The challenger led after two weeks of vote counting, with a margin of more than 5,700 votes out of more than 1.8 million counted, according to an Associated Press article.
- Iowa Gov.-Elect Terry Branstad, a Republican, likely will get the job of choosing three new justices for the state Supreme Court after he takes the oath of office Jan. 14, the Associated Press reported. Branstad said the commission should take its time, after voters gave the boot to three members of the state high court, according to Radio Iowa.
- Hugh Caperton’s newly filed lawsuit against Massey Energy keeps drawing media coverage, this time a feature article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. You can learn more about his lawsuit, questioning the impartiality of the West Virginia Supreme Court, from Gavel Grab.
