Legal Ethics Items (November 8, 2010)

ADVERTISEMENTS
  • New York Times Magazine: "The Other Oil Cleanup," an article about plaintiffs' lawyers and the BP spill.  The lawyers are no fan of Kenneth Feinberg, the claims administrator.  (h/t: Point of Law)  I could imagine that torts profs and PR profs alike might assign this article to their students.
  • Benjamin Barton's new book, The Lawyer-Judge Bias in the American Legal System, is now posted on Amazon.  I'll be on a panel next July, at SEALS, critiquing the book.  (h/t: Instapundit)
  • Des Moines Register: Will justices vote tarnish or help Iowa's image?  (h/t: How Appealing) (As we've mentioned here, the Iowa voters ousted three supreme court justices who had struck down the law limiting marriage to man-woman couples.)
  • Mark Bennett looks at an advertising scheme that makes all lawyers "stellar" lawyers.  (h/t: Eric Goldman, who passed along a link and Overlawyered)  It's kind of like being an FBI agent, because, as I understand it, they're all "special" agents.
