One could say that the Democrat party just got their “ass” handed to them on Tuesday. No, really — they did; click on the link for more of the back story to the above pic.
RedState’s Moe Lane appropriately opined:
PS: No, it?d be kind of silly and childish if the GOP had returned a donkey that had been sneeringly given to them in 2006. Returning one that had been sneeringly given to them in 1992? That?s awesome.
More seriously…
Former Governor Sarah Palin (R-AK) released the following video based on Tuesday’s (and her backings’) wins:

Another can’t-miss video features South Dakota’s newest Representative-elect, Ms. Kristi Noem. Aside from the typical “guy hotness factor” (which is all Palin’s fault in getting started, thankyouverymuch; you know, that whole Alaskan bumper sticker, “Coldest State, Hottest Governor“), she’s arguably more poised and better-spoken than even She Who Would Be President ™:

In spite of the above, Mr. Obama vows that he will not allow ObamaCare to be repealed while certain individuals in the Senate Democratic leadership are warning Republicans not to block Democrat legislation.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) responded thusly:
?Over the past week, some have said it was indelicate of me to suggest that our top political priority over the next two years should be to deny President Obama a second term in office,? Mr. McConnell says. ?But the fact is, if our primary legislative goals are to repeal and replace the health spending bill; to end the bailouts; cut spending; and shrink the size and scope of government, the only way to do all these things it is to put someone in the White House who won?t veto any of these things. We can hope the President will start listening to the electorate after Tuesday?s election. But we can?t plan on it.?
And if repeal doesn’t work, he promises the “death by a thousand cuts” version, as in undoing the law “piece by piece.”
Regardless, the Tea-nami isn’t done yet. After all, in 2012, the Democrats will have 21 seats up for grabs, including the following Republican Senators not included in the aforementioned 21 that could be “primaried” if they veer too far off the proverbial reservation:
John Barasso (WY)
Scott Brown (MA)
Bob Corker (TN)
John Ensign (NV)
Orrin Hatch (UT)
Kay Bailey Hutchison (TX)
Jon Kyl (AZ)
Richard Lugar (IN)
Olympia Snowe (ME)
Roger Wicker (MS)
The final nail in the coffin that will affect voting over the next decade? The ability for the GOP to control reapportionment. As in, the Republicans now control 54 of 99 State legislatures (where Nebraska’s is unicameral). That represents a net gain of 18 State chambers, where 6 States had flips of both of their houses.
With all of these offensive tactics in place, presently, the most important battle has shifted from being legislative to being regulatory; Prof. Jacobson spells the story out here. The posting is well worth an eye-opening read.
Step 1 of the process has been completed. In order to cement these victories, there are two more fundamental steps; it’s rather fortunate that they will occur in 2012 simultaneously.
Let’s see if the GOP and the People can stay vigilant together.
