Valley Farm Meats Recalls Product Due to Listeria Risk

Valley Farm Meats, also known as Strasburg Provision, has expanded a voluntary recall of ready-to-eat meat items, bringing the total recall to 3,600 pounds of product that may be contaminated.

The recalled products include: trail style bologna, smoked snack sticks, smoked ham varieties, smoked pork loin, smoked bacon varieties, wieners, cooked pulled chicken, cooked pulled beef, cooked pulled pork, head cheese, hot head cheese, scrapple, dutch brand loaf, bologna or big bologna or bung bologna, old country hungarian sausage, garlic knockies, smoked kolbassi, smoked sausage, smoked pork spare ribs, smoked pork hocks, smoked pork jowls, smoked pork neck bones and smoked pork tails.

The package labels may bear the Ohio Department of Agriculture inspection mark and 'Est. 80.' The products were produced this year between June 1 and Oct. 4, and may display a Julian date of 152 through 277 or a calendar date of June 1 through Oct. 4. The agriculture department has not received reports of illnesses associated with consumption of the products.

The products were sold after June 1 at: Valley Farm Meats, Strasburg; D & B and Strasburg Meats, 1410 Whipple Ave. NW, Canton Township; Shady Rest Army Navy, 6166 state Route 250, Beach City; Canal Street Diner, 157 Canal St. SE, Bolivar; Hot Rod City, 201 Stone Creek Rd., New Philadelphia; Homestead Restaurant, 4450 state Route 557, Charm; Bordner's, 2100 Wales Rd. NE, Massillon; and, Oser's Legendary Ice Cream, 102 N. Canal St., Canal Fulton.
