: Legal Pad | LACarona attorneys say they won't make prosecutors' deadline
By Jason Siegel
Attorneys for former Orange County sheriff Mike Carona say they need more time to figure out what evidence they're going to use in his public corruption trial, the Orange County Register reports.
They're still working through the 100 boxes of evidence provided by prosecutors and filed a brief yesterday saying they won't be able to meet prosecutors proposed date to disclose defense evidence.
Prosecutors say they need the information by May 9 to prepare for Carona's corruption trial on June 10 and proposed barring evidence disclosed after May 9.
U.S. District Judge Andrew Guilford will take up the issue on April 4.
