Voogt Honored With Founder's Award

At this year's NABIS Conference, Robert Voogt, Ph.D., past chair and founder of the North America Brain Injury Society (NABIS) was honored to receive the first annual Founder's Award. Dr. Voogt, one of the nation's leading life care planners who also runs facilities for the long term care of persons with traumatic brain injury, founded NABIS after recognizing that there was no organization advocating on behalf of professionals in the field of traumatic brain injury rehabilitation.

NABIS is a society comprised of professional members involved in the care or issues surrounding brain injury. The principal mission of the organization is moving brain injury science into practice. Whether it is in the area of clinical care, research, policy or litigation, the organization stands behind the premise that advances in science and practices based on application of the scientific evidence will ultimately provide the best outcomes for those with brain injuries and the community as a whole.

NABIS was created specifically to address the needs of multidisciplinary professionals dedicated to brain injury - providing education programs, scientific updates and a platform for communication and professional exchange.

This past year, Dr. Voogt stepped down as chair but agreed to remain on the Board of Trustees. Congratulations to Bob on this wonderful honor.
