Former attorney Joe Cavallo will finish his jail sentence in home detention, the Orange County Register reported.
Despite prosecutors objections, Judge Carla M. Singer said she didn't have the authority to terminate Cavallo's home detention.
Cavallo plead guilty to paying $50,000 to bail bonds agents for client referrals between June 2003 and August 2005. He was sentenced to six-months in jail and three years probation in December. The state bar subsequently suspended his license to practice law.
