The Union Sportsmen?s Journal fall issue is now available online. The new online version gives anyone with an interest in hunting, fishing and conservation 24 pages of outdoor tips and features and a look at what it means to belong to this unique community of union hunters and anglers.
A printed copy of the quarterly publication of the Union Sportsmen?s Alliance (USA) is mailed to each USA member.
The current issue includes a message from USA Executive Director Fred Myers on the group?s long fight to win federal Open Fields legislation that encourages landowners to open their property to hunting and fishing. It also showcases its Boots on the Ground program that calls on union members to volunteer their diverse skills to improve and enhance public access and wildlife habitats.
You can read how retired NFL wide receiver Joe Jurevicius turned his long-time passion for the outdoors into a successful Nebraska outfitting business. The USA member grew up in union family and says USA ?makes total sense.?
We all have one thing in common: We?re all big outdoorsmen and we appreciate what the unions have done and continue to do for our families. But the thing that draws it to me is the brotherhood that comes along with it, just like in football. Everyone likes a deal or a discount but the connection you feel with your fellow union member s what brings it home to me.
Other features detail the reintroduction of elk to the eastern United States, where over-hunting and development in the late 1800s wiped out elk herds; fall fishing for stripped bass along the East Coast and tips on hunting in nation?s southwestern states.
If you?re a USA member who can?t wait for your copy of the Journal to hit your mailbox or just an outdoor enthusiast looking for a good read, click here. Click here to learn more about the USA.
