CALDA Scholarship Honors Legal Document Assistant

A former president of the California Association of Legal Document Assistants (CALDA) and self-employed legal document assistant, Kathy Ricci, of Laguna Niguel, was known for her compassion, work ethic and expertise.

Ricci died on May 15, 2010 after a 18-month battle with colon cancer. CALDA is honoring her memory with a scholarship named after her.

CALDA founder Lois Isenberg told The Orange County Press that Ricci "was considering a pay cut to help those less fortunate find their way through legal paperwork for transactions like divorces."

The first Kathryn Ann Ricci Scholarship will help pay for one LDA to attend a CALDA conference and will be awarded at the Twenty Third Annual Conference to be held at the Asilomar Conference Center in Pacific Grove on October 1-3, 2010.

"She had a lot of integrity," Isenberg said. "She took her position seriously, she liked what she did. I think it's fitting for her to have it named after her."
