OSBA Recognizes 26 Newly Certified Paralegals

By Lynne DeVenny

ADVERTISEMENTS
On July 23, 2010, the Ohio State Bar Association recognized 26 paralegals who met the requirements, including passing a written exam, to be designated as OSBA Certified Paralegals. A list of the 2010 OSBA Certified Paralegals can be found here. The OSBA also published a well done video featuring several of the newly designated paralegals:

Congratulations to all of them for their hard work and dedication to the paralegal profession.

This news story reminded me that when I first started blogging in October 2008, several readers from other states questioned my description of myself as a North Carolina State Bar Certified Paralegal. (Um, by "questioned" I mean I got several kind of rude emails demanding to know how I dared call myself that.)

I feel lucky to live in a state which offers a state bar sponsored voluntary certification program for paralegals - one that employers in North Carolina recognize and value. But in case any other readers are wondering about my designation, I actually have a choice of four:

  • North Carolina Certified Paralegal
  • North Carolina State Bar Certified Paralegal
  • Paralegal Certified by the North Carolina State Bar Board of Paralegal Education
  • NCCP

(To be honest, I haven't run into anyone using the third title. Just try repeating it three times in a row!)
