: The GavelNew WI Disclosure Rules on Hold
By Peter Hardin
Wisconsin will hold off implementing key parts of new political disclosure rules for now, as litigation challenging the rules proceeds.
On Wednesday, a federal judge declined to enjoin enforcement of the new disclosure rules on independent advertising, according to a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article. A day earlier, state officials had reached an agreement to hold off enforcement of the rules.
The judge asked for briefs from both sides arguing whether federal court was the proper venue for the case. Two other similar lawsuits have been filed, one of them in state Supreme Court (see Gavel Grab).
