New Website is Judicial Nominations Resource

By Peter Hardin

ADVERTISEMENTS

An overburdened federal judiciary may come to a “grinding halt” as vacancies on the bench continue to rise, warns Caroline Fredrickson, executive director of the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy.

In a Huffington Post commentary, Fredrickson deplores nearly 100 federal judicial vacancies, and quotes Sen. Mark Udall of Colorado as saying almost half of them, or 42, are considered “judicial emergencies.” Fredrickson declares:

“This is an unacceptable situation. The nation’s courtrooms must not be left hostage to petty partisan bickering.”

She announces the ACS opening of a website devoted to judicial nominations, located at JudicialNominations.org, and says it will help people concerned about an effective and efficient judiciary to monitor nominations and “to become engaged in saving our courts from pitched, unnecessary and harmful political fracases.”
