I love this time of year. The days are getting longer, the weather is getting warmer. I am finally making serious inroads in losing my holiday “cheer”*. School is winding down for the semester.
But this year I am a little anxious. For the first time in my life I don’t know what I’m doing in three months. Rather, I have Plan A and Plan B. Plan A involves going to summer school and interning down here in San Diego. And that plan is pretty much all set and settled. The problem is that Plan B involves going up to Los Angeles for the summer for an internship that I can’t pass up. Of course if I do that, I can’t do anything from Plan A. The real hitch is that I haven’t heard back from Plan B yet. I had my first interview, and it went pretty well. And I received notice that I had made it past the first round, and they can do one of three things. #1 Just hire me now. #2 Call me for a phone interview. #3 Call me in for another face to face interview. Or I suppose #4 Pass on me altogether. Further complicating things, they expect to do one of those things by the end of April.
For those of you keeping track at home, my finals start April 17th. So, I could very well be in a position where I finish this semester without actually knowing for sure whether I’m going to start summer school, or an internship down here in San Diego. I must admit it’s very frustrating. I’m a compulsive planner, I believe in the 7 P’s. Prior proper planning prevents piss poor perfomance. But it’s impossible to plan without a framework.
In other news, Katie and I have set our date, our location, picked up our rings, picked out her dress… and now the wedding planning is sailing along smoothly. So at least I got that going for me.
