: Practical ParalegalismFormer Paralegal's Art Photographed in Every Country in the World
By Lynne DeVenny
"With ALS, you get so trapped. Your mind is alert and thinks of all these things to do, but you can?t do them. It?s a really bad disease. I wondered, ?How can I keep myself occupied and engaged?? ~ Fred Siwak (The Boston Globe)Fred Siwak described the slow onset of ALS as a "bit like nightfall...the sun is gradually getting dimmer, but you don't really notice it until it's dark." Siwak, a paralegal until he could no longer work, died last week, but not before he found a way to stay occupied and engaged by creating beautiful works of art, which traveled the world in his stead and made him famous.
Siwak's art has been photographed in every country in the world. He emailed photos of his art to artists and photographers. They would print copies, and then photograph it with themselves or others in areas with distinguishable features. Destinations were as varied as remote areas in Africa, the Pyramids in Egypt, the South Pole and the International Space Station.

Even as Siwak's sun was dimming, he found a way to make the world a brighter place with his globe-trotting artwork. With this post, I like to think I'm helping it travel a little farther.
