: Practical ParalegalismToday's Quote: Oh, So Now We're "Unsexy"?
By Lynne DeVenny
I asked why Frink-Hamlett omitted another obvious alternative: paralegal. But she says firms have no interest in people with law degrees for those positions. "We've been told by big firms, 'No lawyers [for paralegal spots].'" The reason, she adds, is that it's awkward to have someone who just spent large amounts of money on their legal education working in the same pit with a recent college graduate. ~ Vivia Chen asks legal headhunter Katherine Frink-Hamlett why paralegal positions aren't considered in the list of other dreary jobs desperate law school grads should consider in "Time to Take That Unsexy Job?" for The Careerist.

I keep telling you that unemployed lawyers want your jobs, even if we aren't considered glamorous. The good news is that law firms don't want to hire them for our jobs.
So just forget about the whole "unsexy" thang (not to mention the working in a "pit" thang), and wear some super-cute shoes to work tomorrow.
And remember - being gainfully employed is hot.
