A group of Chicago residents have filed a lawsuit against the city and a newly instituted gun ordinance, claiming that it violated their Constitutional rights. The ordinance “requires anyone who wants to keep a handgun at home to obtain a Chicago firearm permit, take firearms training and have no convictions for a violent crime, unlawful use of a firearm or two or more charges of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.” The lawsuit is asking the court to deem the ordinance void and force the city to stop enforcing it.
